First Easter Mani Of The Year Didn't Go As Planned.

When I got the Spring/Easter collection Sunshine & Rainbows from 10.1 Polish I knew I had to do at least 1 Easter mani with it. I had it all planned out, what background and what plate, and the images I wanted.
A couple of years ago the stunning Dulce aka Bunny Nails did a mani with bunnies playing around under a cherry blossom tree on a pink base. But I wanted to do a mani with this look with the bunnies playing on a green field on a sunny day. And I knew two of the Sunshine & Rainbows collection polishes would be perfect as the background base for this mani. I even used the same plate for the bunnies as Dulce did, one of her own amazing plates Bunny Nails HD-B. This image plate has some Easter images, St. Patrick's Day images, birthday images and some Valentine's Day images. And if you haven't tried Bunny Nails plates, they are amazing.

My inspiration from the very talented Dulce aka Bunny Nails.

Products I used for this mani:
Pro FX Fiberized ridge filler base coat
Sinful Colors Snow Me White
Mr Blue Sky and Springtime Carpet from 10.1 Polish
Bunny Nails HD-B plate
Candy head stamper heads from Marianne Nails
Fab Ur Nails Marshmallow stamper head
DIY stamper handle
Graftobian makeup latex in red
DRK Nails stamping polish in White
Dashica stamping polish in Emerald Green/Dark Green and Brown
Dotting tool
Glisten & Glow HK topcoat
Bliss Kiss cuticle oil

When I was done stamping the bunnies and grass, I thought adding the cherry blossom branches and flowers would overcrowd my mani. And I was so bummed and unhappy with the mani. But still decided to share the mani and do the tutorial to show the Bunny Nails plate and the 10.1 polishes.
So I uploaded my picture to instagram and couple of friends (Gwen & Kelly) pointed out it reminded them of a mani done by another nail friend of mine, Diana. And you know what, I have admired Diana's work for so long. So I looked at it again, and liked my mani again. Why? Because I felt like when my friends told me that my mani reminded them of one of Diana's that was a huge compliment. Diana always creates these amazing looking manis and she inspires a lot of people around the world. Not just little old me.... I will just continue to wish I had wider nail beds so I could do more on my nails without it making my nails look overcrowded..... And do my best to do nail art.

Diana's amazing story telling mani.

My playful Easter bunny mani....
So simple looking compared to Dulce's and Diana's, but I still like it now.

Special thanks to:
Dulce/Bunny Nails for her amazing plate and being such an inspiration to others with her nail art.
Kelly the amazing friend and lady behind the 10.1 Polishes
Diana van Nisselroy for all the inspiration to others with her amazing talent for nail art.
Gwen for being such and amazing friend, thanks again for all of the goodies you sent me.
Love ya, girls.

Sunshine And Rainbows

I have to say I feel really blessed that I get asked to review image plates or nail polishes. It's only been a year since I first was sent image plates to review. And I haven't been sent as many products as other nail bloggers or nail youtube gurus, but each time I feel so humble and honored that they consider my reviews to be valid. Why? Because the nail art community is so BIG, and my youtube, facebook or instagram followers numbers aren't that high.
But still I know my youtube channel, instagram, facebook or blog wouldn't be what it is today if it weren't for my kind hearted partners that consider my reviews to be good enough for their products.

So when Kelly asked if I wanted to do a review of her Spring/Easter collection I again felt so humbled and honored. And I got them last week, I just had to finish the swatching of the Nail Hoot Lacquers swatches.
I have known about this collection from Kelly for a while, she spilled the beans for me a few weeks back. And I was so exited and have been waiting like crazy to get my hands on these. And why is that you ask? Because not only did she release a collection of pastels, but she added a twist to this collection. Each polish has a stunning metallic shimmer to them, and when the light hits your nails you can see the effect really well. I went to Walmart the other day with 2 of the colors on my nails, and I got a few compliments on the colors.

10.1 Polishes are five-free polishes, they apply really nice and dry pretty fast. And Kelly is a sweetheart, always a bonus.

Thank you so much, Kelly for the honor to review your nail polishes. I feel so blessed an humbled to call you as a friend. I love ya, girl.

This collection by 10.1 Polish is called Sunshine and Rainbows, lol sounds like an episode of My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic. But who cares, I don't because we love MLPFIM in this household.
You can find 10.1 Polish on facebook.

Anyhow back to the topic.....
So in this collection there are 6 colors, you can buy them individually. All in very light Spring colors, the only one that isn't a true pastel color is Morning Sunshine. It's a bit too bright to be a pastel, it's still a pretty yellow for Spring season. Also because my skin tone is medium olive, I needed 3 coats on most of these shades. When I applied 2 coats you could still see the smile line on my nails. If your skin tone is lighter than mine 2 coats may be enough for you.

 youtube video of this collection.

Mr Blue Sky is a pastel sky blue color, and you can see the shimmering metallic effect really well in this one. I applied 3 coats over my base coat. I also tested something on my thumbnail over this and Sugar Kisses, I applied 2 coats of Orly's Shine On Crazy Diamond to see if the effect from 10.1 polish would fade. And let me tell you, it didn't If you see in the video when I show close-up of Mr Blue Sky and Sugar Kisses you can see the glitter from the Orly polish. And you can see that metallic shimmer effect  in the 10.1 polishes shine through that Orly polish.

Sugar Kisses this pastel bubble gum pink is just so pretty. I am not really a pink girl I am very picky about my pink colors, but I like this one. I did  2 coats and again you can see the metallic shimmer effect really well in this one.

Lilac Fields this pastel lilac color is really pretty, the metallic shimmer gets a bit washed out in this one compared to Sugar Kisses and Mr Blue Sky. But you can still see it, it's not like you need a magnifying glass to see it.... LOL... I did  2 coats of this one.

Morning Sunshine this isn't a true pastel yellow, it's a bit too bright for that. But it's still a pretty yellow color. Compared to my China Glaze Sunshine Pop that I don't like on my nails at all. I do not mind this one at all, even tho they are quite similar. Why? Because of the metallic shimmer effect, I just like what it does to the color. I did 3 coats of this on my nails.

Springtime Carpet, this pastel green is just stunning, I loved it right away when I saw it. As with pinks I am very picky with my greens as well. I got compliments on this one and Sweet Sherbet when I went to Walmart the other day, yes I was wearing one color on each hand. I did  3 coats of this on my nails.

Sweet Sherbet this is my favorite in the collection, it got my attention as soon as I pulled it out of the box. It looks a bit washed out on the picture and in the video. I will be wearing this color quite a bit this spring. I did 3 coats on my nails.

On other note, my family got 2 new members added to it. 2 little girl guinea pigs. Floppy (her ears are folded over) and Fluffy, been spending a lot of time this last week to get them used to all of us and settled in. They've decided I must be their huge guinea pig mommy, because they go crazy when I hold them. Floppy is the most vocal one, she is loud when she goes nuts. She squeals very happily when I hold her or go near the cage. My 4 year old loves her Fluffy, my 8 year old who is autistic needs to be told to sit down and spend time with his Floppy. But so far so good, he thinks it's really funny when Floppy poops on him or me. Their cage is right behind me where I do my nails and record my videos so there will be times you can hear them in the videos..

Flower Power For Long & Sad Winter Days.

Winter  always makes me sad, so cold and dark. I have been busy making youtube videos of Marianne Nails image plates and stampers for the last few days. And even filmed a couple of quick tip videos I need to edit and upload. I needed a break from all the work, even tho it's fun work I needed a break. Because it takes time and it's a lot of work that goes behind each video. My nails looked like crap, so I decided to do my nails and do the AIS Sunday challenge at the same time. I looked at all of my new Marianne Nails plates, and let me tell you it wasn't easy to pick a plate or image. I decided on some flower nails, since it's so cold right now and I am longing for spring and summer. I haven't done a Leadlight tutorial yet, just played around with it on some swatch sticks the last few weeks since I got my first jelly polishes not too long ago. So I figured it was time these nails....  Leadlight technique is just stunning and the creator of Messy Mansion plates came up with the technique.

So I used one of my new Marianne Nails image plates n60 and stamped the image with La Femme White. Then I used my 2 favorite nail art brushes I got from Fab Ur Nails Pure Color 10 and Just Nails 24 Dance to fill in 10.1 Polish Full Moon and 10.1 Polish Cherry Blast over the image. I love my 10.1 Polishes. They are so pretty and they dry so fast, and a big bonus that they are 5 free.

And now I can't stop looking at my nails. I am really happy how these turned out. Now back to editing videos.

Christmas Sweater Nails 2014.

Time for some stamping nail art. My nails are so short, but still I wanted to do a tutorial on youtube.
And as I promised in the 10,1 Polish Review post I would do some nail art using those polishes.

I wanted to do some Christmas sweater nails using Bunny Nails HD-I, it's such a pretty Christmas plate. I think she sold out of the plate, but will still add the link to her Bunny Nails page. She has more awesome looking plates on there.

youtube tutorial.

I used La Femme stamping polish in White and my Creative Shop Stamper. I let the image be on the stamper to make a stamping decal.  I decided to use two of the Icing polishes from 10.1 Polish in Kiwi Delight and Cherry Blast. I filled in areas of the image with the 2 colors, and let it dry for a few before adding another coat. Because the 10.1 Polishes are tints you only get a hint of color on the first coat. But the more coats you add, the color will become more vibrant. You just keep adding coats until you have the color effect you're after. Then when it's dry you apply topcoat and let it dry for a while. Then you gently peel it off your stamper, flip it over to the other side and let it rest on the stamper while you apply a clear nail polish or slow drying topcoat. Then you take the decal and place it onto your nail while the clear polish/topcoat is still wet, that will act as a glue. Gently tap the decal on your nail to straighten it out and make it even. Cut off pieces of the decal that is outside the outline of your nail. And apply your favorite topcoat to seal in the decal and give your nail a nice shine.

The left one is over a clear swatch stick, the right is over a white polished base.

Hope you liked this one. As always, thanks for stopping by.

Nail Polish Review: 10.1 Polish

My 6 10.1 Polishes and a palette ring Kelly was so kind to make for me.

I know it has been a while since I made a blog post.
But hoping this one will make up for it...... I was finally able to make an order from 10.1 Polish.
These polishes are made by a good friend of mine, Kelly. I love her to bits, she is an amazing woman that I have gotten so much support from over the last few months. Thank you, Kelly for your friendship. I love ya, girl.

10.1 polishes are Five Free..... And what does that mean?? These polishes are not only made without the 3 common chemicals found in nail polishes: Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) and Formaldehyde. But also without 2 other very dangerous chemicals Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor. So two thumbs up for that!!! So you can open these up and apply them to your nails without giving you and people around you a splitting headache.

I ordered 3 of her Frosted Sheers polishes, her winter holiday collection. I picked Snow Caps, Full Moon and Reservation. These are sheer tints with holographic pigment added to them. You can see the holo affect well in Reservation and Full Moon, but Snow Caps is very faint and hard to see. But that is not Kelly's fault. She added as much pigment to Snow Caps as she did to the others. But white is known to "WASH OUT" the holo effect. And you can't keep adding SpectraFlair or other holo pigment to white, because it will turn it into grey. So it is VERY hard to make a good white holo polish. I have tried, because I have 2 grades of SpectraFlair (1 gr each). The best result I have with getting a white holo is, if I paint my nails with a normal white polish.  And then apply a holo topcoat over.

Kelly told me to pick 3 extra polishes that she wanted to add to my order as a gift and to review, so I picked Cherry Blast, Kiwi Delight and Plum-tastic. These are also jelly tint polishes, so they aren't made to be opaque in 1-2 coats. They will just do a faint jelly color on your nail. But you can add as many coats you want, and the color will become more vibrant.

But most girls and guys I know who use tint polishes use it with their nail art. Stamping or free hand nail art. They apply the base color, then stamp or paint with white and then use the tints to color the white areas. And you get like a stained glass effect or jello color effect.

10.1 polishes applies like a dream, I love the brush perfect for my narrow nail beds. They dry pretty fast, and because they are 5 free they won't give you a headache.  The bottle is a 15 ml bottle, I know she just changed the bottle to a bigger size. Also a few weeks ago she changed the label. So they look very clean and pro like to me. There are so many other colors I want to order and add to my collection. But because they're Indie brand you have to pay a bit extra than your drugstore polishes.
So are they worth the prize?? I would say so.they apply like a dream, fast drying time very pretty colors and they're made with love by Kelly.

I played around with the polishes after I was done recording the video. I will be doing a tutorial with these soon. But the pictures are below.

But I want to say a super big THANK YOU to Kelly for sending me the extra gift. And for being such an amazing friend for the last few months. Thanks for all the support and the many phone calls. I love you, girl.
