Nail Mail and Closer Look At Dashica Big SdP W.

2 weeks ago I made an order from Dashica, but I knew they had a holiday there so Shirley wouldn't be able to ship it out until holiday was over. I got a msg from Shirley last week saying she had shipped my order out. Before it has taken 2 weeks to get from Netherlands to Salt Lake City, so I was shocked to see that I got a box from today.  It had been a bad day so far, the worst for allergies so far this spring. Also my dear 2 year old Grace decided to be a terror with a big T with way too many tantrum fits. I guess they don't call it the terrible two's for nothing.... LOL.

This order from Dashica wasn't as big as the ones I've made before, reason why is that there are other plates I wanted to get too like the Pueen ones. And there are more plates on my list, but I have to wait a bit.

I ordered the new Dash set, 5 Big SdP plates, 6 normal SdP plates and 2 single Dash plates. But Shirley had added 2 gifts for me a nail art brush set and the Big SdP W to review. I had already planned to review the new Big plates and the Dash set. And over the next days I'll be busy making videos and taking pictures of the plates and testing them. I'll do one for each of the new Big plates and the Dash set, so keep your eyes open for those posts and youtube videos.

My order.

The two gifts from Shirley.

I don't know how Shirley knew I needed to swap out some of my nail art brushes. Maybe she has super powers.

First of let's take a closer look at this plate Dashica Big SdP W. When I saw this plate the first thought that hit my head was that it looks like a mini XL SdP plate. They have some full nail images and a bunch of individual images. I love the Big plates, there are so many pretty full nail images on these plates.

So many cute images on this plate. Look at the dance party one... YAY.

lips, hearts oh my so many ideas for next year's Valentine's Day.

Next post will be about testing this plate, I'll try and get it done tomorrow. Crossing my fingers that tomorrow won't be as bad for my allergies as today was.
Thank you, Shirley for my two gifts. You truly made my day, love always.

OPI Bond Collection part II, The Bond Girls

When OPI released the James Bond collection I knew I just had to add them to my collection, and I got all but The Man With The Golden Gun.
So when I saw they were going to release a Bond Girl collection, well then I just knew I just had to have those too. The Bond Girl collection is just 6 polishes and all of them are in the liquid sand formula. Compared to the Julie G Gumdrops these have a finer feel to them, and not as much glitter heavy as the Gumdrops. 5 of the colors are nice for spring and summer, Vesper is more for fall and winter.
Also I had to apply 3 coats on all of them, so that is the only minus with this collection. After the swatch pictures there will be some pictures of some of these polishes used as base for stamping, as test to see how they work as base polish for stamping. And so you're warned an other picture heavy post..... Let's take a closer look at these babes.... LOL... Sorry, I couldn't help it.

L-R:Solitaire, Jinx, Vesper, Honey Ryder, Pussy Galore & Tiffany Case.

Swatch L-R: Solitaire, Jinx, Vesper, Honey Ryder, Pussy Galore & Tiffany Case.

Solitaire from Live and Let Die
When I applied Solitaire it reminded me of mother of pearl with silver glitter in it. When it dries it looks like white pearl to me. It's really stunning and delicate, so if you get a nice summer tan and wear this polish.... WOW.

Jinx from Die an Other Day

Jinx a stunning orange glitter, one of the polishes in this collection that has the most glitters in it. I applied 3 coats. This one is the runner up of favorites in this collection, but I can't decide if I like this or Honey Ryder  more. They share the runner up spot, and if you can't get Jinx Sugar Rush from Julie G is a perfect dupe for it.

Jinx and random images from my new Winstonia plates.

Vesper from Casino Royale

Vesper is a very dark purple, and doesn't have glitter in it. I think it's too dark for spring and summer, more a fall and winter color. And even tho it's dark purple I had to apply 3 coats. Also Vesper is a bad girl, because she's a pain to get a good picture of. I snapped over 30 pictures and most of them look more blue or black than purple.

Some random images from Pueen Love Elements, the full nail images are a bit too small for my nails. So if I want to use these plates on my current nil length I have to do a French tip.

Honey Ryder from Dr. No
Dr. No was my first Bond movie, I remember it well. I was at a friends house and his step dad had all the Bond movies at the time. And asked us if we wanted to watch one with him, we we're 12 years old.  Honey Ryder is a stunning gold glitter, I think I have to get a backup for this one. No doubt one of my favorite golds. Even tho it's a liquid sand it looks very delicate on your nails. Because it's a light gold shade with gold glitters in it. If you go out to dinner and wear a black dress and have this polish on your nails, that will be a stunning date night look for sure.

Tiffany Case from Diamonds Are Forever

I think this one is my favorite in the collection, and this polish like Jinx has a lot of glitter in it. I couldn't stop staring at my nails when I was wearing this polish. I didn't think I would like this color on my nails, don't ask.... You know how it is, you have this in your mind that certain colors doesn't look good on you. For me that has been blue and yellow, and not only on polishes clothing in general....

So who's my favorite Bond? It used to Be Sean Connery, but I just love Daniel Craig's Bond. My favorite Bond movies??? Hmmm, Dr No and Skyfall I think. Favorite Bond movie song A View To A Kill by Duran Duran (it's my favorite band, so that one was easy.) My favorite Bond villain?? Oh, an other hard to pick.... Max Zorin I think, but the Christopher Walken plays those creepy guys really well. Bond girls? Well, I like them now since they get skills and brains. No longer the screaming no good in skimpy outfits.....

And there you have it. Hope you liked this post and random Bond chit chat in the end.
Have a great day.

Haul Part 1, polishes.

I went to my local nail supply store, Lee's Nail Supply. My go to place if I want to get OPI, China Glaze, Orly, Color Club, nail wheels, swatch sticks etc.
They sell OPI for $4, China Glaze and Color Club for $3. I called in and asked him if the OPI Bond Girl collection had arrived yet, and he got it 2 days before. So I popped in to pick them up, I also wanted to look at the Texture collection from China Glaze and wanted to get my first yellow polish. I only picked up one of the texture polishes, but walked out with all 6 Bond girls, and  China Glaze Sunshine Pop. Then a few days ago I noticed I was running low on my Konad White so I ordered a Princess size from amazon.

I have added the my new liquid sand polishes and the texture polishes to the same wheel I have the Julie G Gumdrops. I have noticed that the OPI liquid sand polishes have a finer feel to them. Not as rough as the Gumdrops. Also not all 6 have a ton of glitter in them, the Chine Glaze Textured polishes don't have any glitters in them. But only one of the screamed out to me. Guess it's because it looks like Dance Baby, so I just had to grab it.

All the polishes I got this week.

Konad White & China Glaze Unrefined

Unrefined looks like Dance Baby to me, have to look at them side by side.

I will do a blog post on the Bond Girl collection alone, in a day or two. Also I am doing some on the new plate sets I'm getting from Winstonia and Pueen, so keep an eye out for those posts too.

As always, thanks for stopping by.

Gumdrops, Nom nom!!

Here is a closer look at the Julie G's Gumdrop polish collection, they come in 6 pretty colors and they have a lot of glitter in them. It says on the bottle to not use topcoat over them to get that sand effect. It kinda feels like fine sandpaper, just way prettier. You can find these at your local RiteAid, but I got mine on a special via Groupon. I have to warn you, this post is picture heavy, and I also did a youtube vid to see how well these are to stamp over. These sand texture polishes are trendy right now next to the holographic polish trend. Zoya, China Glaze, OPI and Julie G all have their own collection. The ones from China Glaze I don't think have any glitters to them. I will be picking up the ones from OPI that are all named after Bond girls, I went to my nail supply store and he said he will get them in. I will do a swatch and stamping test on those too and blog and youtube about those too.

Now onto the stamping test, I did this over Blueberry Fizz and tried using a dark navy blue to stamp with. But because of these polishes have  a lot of glitters in them it didn't show as well. So I swapped to black, I also noticed if  I used an image with some fine details to them they kinda drowned in the glitter.

Badtz-Maru on index finger & Betty Boop on far right,

I love these colors, all of them but Hot Cinnamon are great for spring & summer. But if you're not a fan of glitter polishes these won't be to your taste. And if you don't like the sandpaper feel but love to get these you can slab on some topcoat and they will have a smoother finish to them.
As always thanks for stopping by.
Have a great weekend.

Sickness & Bling, Bling Sickness.... What ever....

The last week has been rough, sick kids with stomach bugs and colds. Then it finally hit me too, so haven't been feeling well enough to do anything on my nails. Other than my cuticle oil routine and hand cream.
Then last night I decided to play around with some swatch sticks and rhinestones and other nail decals.  Like placing them in different patterns and so on. Then I made some swatch stick that I plan to use as background for either stamping or acrylic paints. Just haven't decided yet.
I went to Walmart the other day and picked up two Nicole by OPI polishes, one from the Modern Family collection Haley Good Lookin ... and one from Selena Gomez collection Heavenly Angel.
When I saw how the glitters and holo effect in the flakies was going crazy in the light I just had to grab them. Then I grabbed a bag of flat back crystals, you can never have enough bling.

The background swatch sticks.

BLIIIIIIIIIING.

My First Order From Shany Cosmetics.

Last week I made my first order from Shany cosmetics, I ordered the Shany 2013 set, the XXL Image plate B and a wheel of 3D clay flowers.
So I checked my order form and it confirmed I had ordered these items and they got shipped. Today I got them in the mail, and opened the set and started to peel off the blue plastic. Then to my horror I saw that the plates didn't look like the ones I had ordered and checked the number. And yeah, it was the plates from set 01 in the box for set 02.......
So I opened the envelope that the XXL plate comes in, at least that one was the right one. But I have to say I was shocked to see how big some of the images are, like the angry birds and smurfs are BIG. Only way I can stamp those are if I place them on my thumb nail. Will be too big for my other nails.
The backing of the XXL plate feels great, even a bit better than the backing of my two Dashica XXL SdP plates. But the Shany plate doesn't have as many images on it as the ones from Dashica.  Also the images on the Dashica plate aren't too big so you can stamp them on your other nails too.
Yes, the XXL Shany is way cheaper than the XXL Dashica plates, the Shany is now $ 10.00 while Dashica is 39.99 Euros/ or $53.00. But Dashica's XXL SdP1 has 338 images on it and XXL SdP2 has around 390 images on it.
But it is still a good deal for $10.00, I just hope they stamp well. That will be my next post. I sent Shany an email about the error on the plate they sent me. I just have to wait and see what happens.

A very mini haul.

I jumped on the promo Zoya did on FB. So got 3 Zoya polishes for free only paid for the shipping & handling. And that was just $10.00 so good deal.

I don't have that many Zoya polishes in my collection. But anyways, I picked 2 cream polishes and 1 tanned polish with some gold it. Can't really see the gold in pictures. And the mint green looks more blue in this picture.......... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

L2R: Dulcinea, Bevin & Piper.

Other than that it's really cold here in Salt Lake City and I have a cold......... The joy of winter.......
My grandmother in-law turned 90 years old, so I baked her favorite cookies and got some flowers and her favorite candies. She had a great birthday, she went out to lunch with her nieces and nephews and came home to dinner and freshly baked cookies. And she got a few big birthday hugs from the kids.
So now time to relax and think of what to do on my nails tomorrow.
Think it's time for hot chocolate before bed......

Thanks for checking my little blog.

My Name Is Bond, James Bond.

For the first time there was a collection from OPI I just had to have. The new James Bond collection just released for Fall/Winter. There are 13 polishes in this collection, I got 12 of them. They are all named after James Bond movies (cool right?), the last one that I didn't get is a 18 K gold flakes topcoat The Man With The Golden Gun. That alone costs $30.00. I find my OPI's at a nail supply store and I get them for $ 4.00 each.  I went in there yesterday and asked if they had this collection, the owner doesn't speak English very well. Lucky for me his son was there, and they point to the Muppet's display saying the latest polishes up there..... So me thinking they claim that the Muppet's polishes are the newest one, tell them No, James Bond.  So the son pulls one down and shows me, and it was The Spy Who Loved Me. I swear I did a little happy dance and they both laughed. Needless to say I giggled and squealed all the way home.

Here's the video of the polishes and nail swatches of all of them. Hope you like it. Tried my best to get good lighting so you can see the colors and the glitter effects.

You can hear little G in the back, she is 22 months old and loves to say OUCH and then giggles.

L 2 R: Moonraker, Die An Other Day, Tomorrow Never Dies, Skyfall, On Her Majesty's Secret Service & Casino Royale.

L 2 R: Spy Who Loved Me, Live And Let Die, You Only Live Twice, Living Daylights, The World Is Not Enough & GoldenEye.

On other note, since it looks like Fall has finally hit us here in Salt Lake City we went to Costco yesterday. And they had a stand with taste samples of a clam chowder, was so good so we picked up some that will be on tonight's menu with some good bread on the side. Then we stopped at Honey Baked and got a couple of jars of their Black Bean Salsa, so we'll rent a movie and snack on some chips and dip.

Have  a great weekend!!
